First Jacob Batt

I finally finished carding my last bit of Zwartbles, so I was able to give the drum carder a good clean and start on this mountain of Jacob fleece that I have!  I have to say that I'm very happy with it; it is so soft, it's like working with a cloud.  I love the effect of the different coloured fibres when they're combined.

I cannot wait to start spinning it up!  I'm being patient though and finishing spinning up all my zwartbles wool first.

More about the Jacob breed here.

Getting to Grips With the Jacobs

Some time ago a local farmer gave me twenty Jacob fleeces.  As those who spin might expect, they're exactly as they came off the sheep - bugs, straw, bodily fluids and all. The weather has been revolting since so getting time to sort them out has been challenging.  Today's challenge was this one:

Hopefully this doesn't put anyone off wearing my creations; I thought it would be interesting for some people though to see what the raw material looks like!

I managed to get two full pillow cases of great quality soft fibre out of this fleece. I can't wait to see how it spins up.

Times New Roman Large Capital Letters - Free Knitting Charts

Here's another set of capital letter charts, this time based on the Times New Roman font.

Please feel free to use these charts for your own projects; it would be lovely though if you do happen to use them in a pattern that you then publish, that you mention lilliputandkitty.co.uk in the credits.  Thanks!

If you'd particularly like me to do a certain font for you, please let me know.

While I think I made the charts clear enough even with the copyright notice splashed across them, if you would like these charts without the copyright notice, they are available to download from my Etsy store.

Review: Wingham Wool Work

Having made yet another order from Wingham Wool Work, I thought I really should post a review.

Ruth, Alan and Tom Gough are based in Yorkshire in England.  I've been absolutely delighted with everything I've ordered from there - including my spinning wheel, drum carder, various bags of carded fleece, and a spinning chair; it's all been cheaper than it's possible to find on Amazon, too.  Everything arrives well packaged, quickly, and exactly as ordered.  It's rapidly becoming one of my favourite places to shop for all things spinning related.

Courier Large Capital Letters - Free Knitting Chart

I've discovered that it's pretty difficult to find knitting charts out there for letters.  Many of the charts that purport to be suitable for knitting are actually for cross stitch, which is a different width to height ratio than most knitting turns out to be.  I'm going to start publishing some knitting charts for letters in various fonts.  Today, I'm starting with a basic courier font - that's a 'screen print' type font, like you'd see on a computer terminal.

Please feel free to use these charts for your own projects; it would be lovely though if you do happen to use them in a pattern that you then publish, that you mention lilliputandkitty.co.uk in the credits.  Thanks!

If you'd particularly like me to do a certain font for you, please let me know.
